American Facts of Life
There have been two articles published within the past few days that may cause the reader to sit back and think about the consequences of U.S. laws as follows:
- http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/01/us/dreamer-arrested-jackson-mississippi/
On the other side of the immigration coin, we have the three family members, introduced by President Donald J. Trump during his Joint Session of Congress speech, whose loved ones became casualties at the hands of illegals.
The stories have been on my mind ever since I originally read them. The good deeds Juan Pacheo did for his community over the past ten years, seem to totally outweigh his illegal status. And the same is true for Daniela Vargas. How on earth can she be held responsible for the actions of her parents when she was age seven upon entering this country?
Yes, we have illegal immigrants in this country and actions need to be taken to ensure these people follow the various laws of our country but grabbing them out of their households and tossing them in a detention center doesn’t appear to be the answer because it’s not the American way.
As far as the family members of Jamil Shaw Jr, Daniel Oliver, and Michael Davis, President Trump introduced during his speech, my heart goes out to them for their tragic losses, but their situation is not the norm.
As of July 1, 2016, the United States Census Bureau estimated the population of the United States at 323 million, broken down as follows:
- 61.6% White
- 17.6% Hispanic or Latino
- 13.3% Black or African American
- 05.6% Asian
- 01.2% American Indian or Alaskan Native
Our President has continued to use the word “Mexicans” when referring to illegals, so I’ll use their data. Of the 323 million population estimated to be in the U.S., 17.6% or 56,848,000 are Hispanic or Latino. If you just deal with the number that are considered “illegal immigrants” in this country you are looking at a total of roughly 11 million.
Somehow or another the number three, as in three dead from illegals, one in 2008 and two in 2014, simply gets lost in the shuffle and do not appear to pose much of a “National Security Threat” to this country. Even if you multiplied by 100, that would only be 300, multiply by a thousand and you’re still only looking at a total of 3,000 out of 323 million or a tiny drop in the population bucket.
If only 1.2% of the population is American Indian that means all the rest of us are immigrants or descendants of immigrants.
Are you a legal or illegal?

How is This Even Possible?
Kevin Liptak, CNN White House Producer, published a story this afternoon quoting President Donald Trump as making the following statement regarding the Affordable Care Act:
“Nobody knew health care could be so complicated.”
How is it possible for a person to run for President of the United States, state they are going to discontinue the Affordable Care Act immediately upon gaining entrance to the White House, and not comprehend the complexities of the law governing the act?
How is it possible for a political party to state their one goal is to rid the country of the Affordable Care Act and seven years later not have a plan in place for replacement?
“Ignorance is bliss” simply does not apply when it comes to the health and well-being of United States citizens. We deserve better!

HAPPY 241st BIRTHDAY U.S. MARINES

The United States Marine Corps was born on November 10, 1775 when the Second Continental Congress provided legislation for “two Battalions of Marines”.
JOURNAL OF THE CONTINENTAL CONGRESS
(Philadelphia) Friday, November 10, 1775
Resolved, That two Battalions of marines be raised, consisting of one Colonel, two Lieutenant Colonels, two Majors, and other officers as usual in other regiments; and that they consist of an equal number of privates with other battalions; that particular care be taken, that no persons be appointed to office, or enlisted into said Battalions, but such as are good seamen, or so acquainted with maritime affairs as to be able to serve to advantage by sea when required; that they be enlisted and commissioned to serve for and during the present war between Great Britain and the colonies, unless dismissed by order of Congress: that they be distinguished by the names of the first and second battalions of American Marines, and that they be considered as part of the number which the continental Army before Boston is ordered to consist of.
Ordered, That a copy of the above be transmitted to the General.
Pasted from <https://www.mcu.usmc.mil/historydivision/Pages/Speeches/ContinentalCongress.aspx>
The official Motto of the United States Marine Corps is “Semper Fidelis” [1] (“Always Faithful”) and was adopted around 1883. Prior to 1883 there were three different mottoes used by the Marine Corps, but all three were considered traditional rather than official.
· “Fortitudine” [2] (“With Fortitude”)
· “By Sea and by Land” – a translation of the Royal Marine’s “Per Mare, Per Terram”
· “To the Shores of Tripoli”, subsequently revised to: “From the Halls of the Montezumas to the Shores of Tripolli”

Happy Birthday UNITED STATES NAVY
By Patricia L Johnson
The United States Navy will be celebrating its 241st birthday on October 13, 2016. Please be sure to wish any current Navy personnel and all Navy Veterans a Happy Day when the 13th rolls around.
The following resolution, written by the Continental Congress, established our United States Navy and was taken from the Naval History & Heritage Command website. The Naval History & Command website is currently in the process of being redesigned, so it may not be readily accessible, but is an excellent resource for naval history.
The question of which came first, the chicken or the egg seems to also apply to the birth of the United States Navy. The Marines have always used a birth date of November 10, 1775, which was earlier than the inconsistent dates [March 27, 1794, and April 30, 1798] the Navy provided when questioned about its beginnings. In fact, for fifty years, from 1922 until 1972, the U.S. Navy celebrated “Navy Day” on October 27th to correspond with President Theodore Roosevelt’s birthday.
It was finally determined the Continental Congress established the Continental Navy on October 13, 1775 by providing for two warships. The Continental Congress then established the Continental Marines on November 10, 1775, a little less than a month later, by providing legislation for “two Battalions of Marines’.
No date had been recognized as the Navy’s birthday until 1972, when Admiral Zumwalt, Chief of Naval Operations and Vice Admiral Edwin B. Hooper, Director of Naval History, authorized October 13 as the date to observe the Navy’s Birthday.
The birthday for the Marines had been established by the Marine Corps Commandant in 1921.

The Difference Between a $27.00 and a $2,700.00 Campaign Contribution
The date was May 10, 2016 when the Federal Election Commission sent the Bernie Sanders campaign yet another letter detailing general reporting errors made by the Sanders campaign as well as indicating the possibility that hundreds of Sanders supporters had exceeded the contribution limit of $2700.00 per person, per election, and hundreds more of his contributions may be received illegally from foreign nationals.
Along with the six-page letter, the Federal Election Commission listed each and every ‘questionable’ contribution to the Sanders campaign and this listing took up 638 typewritten pages. That’s six hundred and thirty-eight typewritten pages of questionable donations to this campaign. The very last page of the correspondence Page 639 listed 24 refunds to contributors that had previously been made, yet the original donations had not been disclosed to the FEC.
The FEC six-page letter and 639-page listing of over 1,500 questionable donors may be read at the following link: http://docquery.fec.gov/pdf/847/201605100300045847/201605100300045847.pdf
The Federal Election Commission Detailed Form 3P, filed by the Sanders campaign on June 20, 2016, for the period of May 1, 2016 to May 31, 2016 indicates “Refunds of Contributions To: (a) Individuals/Persons Other Than Political Committees as follows: This period, $1,084,634.45 and Election Cycle-To-Date of $4,117,578.02.
You may read Detailed Form 3P at the following link: http://docquery.fec.gov/pres//2016/M6/C00577130.html#DETAILED
In other words, more than four MILLION dollars in contributions to the Sanders campaign had to be refunded due to being illegal. The Federal Election Commission allows 60 days for refunds to be made so the amount of “Excessive, Prohibited or Impermissible” refunds may far exceed the four million dollars already refunded.
In an interview scheduled to air today on C-SPAN, host Steve Scully asked Senator Sanders whether or not he would be speaking at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
Sanders finally conceded “it doesn’t appear that I’m going to be the nominee, so I’m not going to determine the scope of the convention”.
It’s good for the country that Senator Sanders finally admitted he would not be the nominee. Whether or not Sanders supporters will support former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump is yet to be determined, but one thing is for certain. The losers will be the voters that do not make an educated choice.

Vatican Statement Regarding meeting between Pope Francis and Davis
By Patricia L Johnson
- Rumors that Pope Francis met individually with Kim Davis and discussed her views on same-sex marriage are not true. The Pope met with a group of individuals, which included Davis and there was no individual discussion between her and the Pope, nor was their any discussion of same-sex-marriage the meeting which included dozens of others.
- After the meeting, Davis apparently told ABC News:
Just knowing the pope is on track with what we’re doing, and agreeing , you know, kind of validates everything.
- Davis was obviously attempting to tell ABC News the Pope agreed with her views on same-sex-marriage when, in fact, the subject was not even discussed.
Davis has no respect for the oath of office she took so it’s not surprising she has no respect for the truth either.
A Must Read for All Interested in the Iran Agreement
My thought for the day – August 16, 2015
Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) posted a press release on August 6, 2015 on his website on the proposed Iranian agreement.
Normally I have a great deal of respect for Senator Schumer, but when it comes to the Iran agreement Senator Schumer’s thoughts appear to be unduly influenced by the Israel factor which is understandable, since Senator Schumer is Jewish. Whether we want to be or not, the majority of us are biased in some way or another.
Unfortunately too often in politics we are swayed by ‘what appears to be’, rather than ‘what is’. While Senator Schumer’s press release concentrates on ‘what appears to be’, Fareed Zakaria’s opinion deals primarily with ‘what is’.
Fareed Zakaria published an Open Letter to Senator Schumer in the Washington Post, and CNN’s website on August 14, 2015. Fareed is CNN’s foreign affairs show host as well as being a Washington Post columnist, a contributor to The Atlantic and a New York Times best selling author.
Why should Fareed’s opinion matter to you? If you take the time to read his bio you’ll note he can probably be considered the U.S. foremost authority on foreign affairs, AND he’s not running for office 🙂
If you have doubts about the Iran Agreement, take the time to read both Senator Schumer’s opinion and Fareed Zakaria’s opinion, and then form your own opinion after reading the actual Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action published on July 14, 2015.
Apparently many of those that have formed an opinion on the agreement haven’t bothered to read it.

TPP – TRANS-PACIFIC PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT
TPP Issue-by-Issue Information Center
The United States is participating in negotiations of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement with 11 other Asia-Pacific countries (Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, and Vietnam) – a trade agreement that will open markets, set high-standard trade rules, and address 21st-century issues in the global economy. By doing so, TPP will promote jobs and growth in the United States and across the Asia-Pacific region.
The Obama Administration is pursuing TPP to unlock opportunities for American manufacturers, workers, service providers, farmers, and ranchers – to support job creation and wage growth. We are working hard to ensure that TPP will be a comprehensive deal, providing new and meaningful market access for goods and services; strong and enforceable labor standards and environmental commitments; groundbreaking new rules designed to ensure fair competition between state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and private companies; commitments that will improve the transparency and consistency of the regulatory environment to make it easier for small- and medium-sized businesses to operate across the region; a robust intellectual property (IP) rights framework to promote innovation, while supporting access to innovative and generic medicines and an open Internet; and obligations that will promote a thriving digital economy, including new rules to ensure the free flow of data.
This page and the following links describes the Administration’s goals and objectives for the TPP, and presents the main elements of each issue area from the United States’ perspective. Negotiations toward a TPP agreement are ongoing, and many of the elements detailed below are not settled. These are our objectives; there is still work to be done to achieve them. This document lays out the Administration’s vision, which the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative is advancing, of harnessing trade as a tool for economic growth and supporting jobs, and building opportunity for Americans in the context of an agreement that will benefit all TPP countries.

When Do We Finally Put an End to the Never Ending Bulls**t?
Opinion: Patricia L Johnson
All along I’ve considered the Republican attacks on former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to be nothing more than another opportunity to tarnish the reputation of the former secretary simply due to the fact she is a Democrat. Now I’m wondering if the continual attacks against her character have nothing whatsoever to do with politics and are strictly due to the fact she is a female. Remember it’s a man’s world out there and will continue to be until the Equal Rights Amendment is passed providing equal status to both sexes.
The Equal Rights Amendment was originally written in 1923 by Alice Paul and consisted of three sentences as follows:
Section 1. Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.
Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.
Section 3. This amendment shall take effect two years after the date of ratification.
In 1971 the Equal Rights Amendment was approved by the U.S. House by a vote of 354-24 and on March 22, 1972 the U.S. Senate passed the bill by a vote of 84-8, but in order for it to become an amendment to the Constitution three-fourths of the states, or 38 states, were required for ratification. To date only 35 states have ratified, even though the amendment has been submitted to every Congress since 1982. During the 113th Congress (2013-2014) the wording was changed slightly to incorporate the word “Women”). Whether or not the bill will be submitted in the 114th Congress (2015-2016) is yet to be determined.
The fact is as of right now the women in the country are not equal to the men, so why wouldn’t the men be able to question any and every task performed by a member of the female sex, which they have consistently tried to do with former Secretary of State Clinton.
Let’s take a look at Benghazi. How many investigations are the taxpayers of this country going to pay for to get to the bottom of Benghazi? How many investigations have they already completed? I just don’t remember, but I think the last count was astronomical and they still haven’t come up with any damaging evidence to prove any wrongdoing by the former Secretary.
The question every taxpayer in this country should ask themselves is why it is that so many Congressional Investigations have been made on Benghazi, where four Americans were killed, versus how many investigations have been made on Iraq where innocent Iraqi’s are still being killed on a daily basis? Our unwarranted attack on Iraq was, and will forever continue to be, the biggest mistake this country has ever made, yet our Congress is spending an incredible amount of time and U.S. dollars on investigations that have proved over and over again what happened in Benghazi, instead of trying to determine what action must be taken to avoid further errors like the one made in Iraq.
The business about e-mails is no more than another attempt by the Republicans to disgrace a woman who has spent her entire life serving this country. Nowhere, in any of the material I’ve read about the latest so-called e-mail scandal has it stated what the rules were regarding e-mails during Secretary of Clinton’s term in office, from January 21, 2009 to February 1, 2013.
Unfortunately, the actual facts in any story don’t seem to come into play when there’s a possible scandal brewing. Our media jumps on the first indication of an indiscretion on the part of a female in a high position, and sets the wheels in motion. Perhaps they should all consider looking into the facts before they go charging off into the sunset.
My research indicates the allegations being made apply to rules that went into effect on September 9, 2013. Since Secretary of State Clinton left the State Department on February 1, 2013, it would be virtually impossible for her to have broken rules that weren’t yet in effect. This e-mail nonsense is nothing more than a ploy by the Republicans to gain access to additional information so they can continue to keep Benghazi on the front page during the next election cycle.
If they want a story to investigate, why don’t they try checking into this one? On September 11, 2001 we lost less than 3,000 individuals in the attacks on the World Trade Center, etc. At one time it was reported we lost more than 3,000, but when the dust settled the final number came in at less than 3,000. Why did Al Qaeda attack us? Osama’s Bin Laden’s video indicates it was an effort to stop us from supporting Israel as follows: “Terrorism against America deserves to be praised because it was a response to injustice, aimed at forcing America to stop its support for Israel, which kills our people.”
On October 7, 2001 President George W. Bush ordered the strikes against Afghanistan. On March 19, 2003 President George W. Bush began our “Shock and Awe” campaign against Iraq (without justification).
As of March 4, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. EST, a total of 6,849 defense personnel have been killed, and 52, 311 defense personnel have been wounded in action due to the actions taken by the former President in response to the 9/11 attacks. The numbers do not include the hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians that have been killed, wounded or displaced.
Why are we allowing Members of Congress to waste taxpayer funds investigating frivolous allegations, when they could be spending their time investigating events that will continue to have an impact on our future?
Wouldn’t you like to know exactly what took place that allowed the former administration to make the terrible error they made in claiming Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and bringing us into a war that apparently has no end? Wouldn’t you like all communications on that particular subject to be made public so the same mistake isn’t made in the future?
Wouldn’t you like to know why there are two separate sets of standards in this country? One for the man that caused almost 60,000 individuals to be killed or wounded since 9/11, and one for the woman that was not in way personally responsible for the deaths of four individuals killed in the Benghazi attack of November 12, 2012?
I would!

United States Supreme Court – KING V. BURWELL – March 4, 2015
Opinion: Patricia L Johnson
The United States Supreme Court will be hearing oral arguments today on the KING V. BURWELL case, docket number 14-114 [lower court docket number 14-1158]
Section 36B of the Internal Revenue Code (enacted as part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act”), authorized federal tax-credit subsidies for health insurance through an “Exchange established by the State under section 1311″ of the ACA.”
The question the Supreme Court will eventually rule on is “whether the Internal Revenue Service (“IRS”) may permissibly promulgate regulations to extend tax-credit subsidies to coverage purchased through Exchanges established by the federal government under section 1321 of the ACA.”
What happens in the event the Supreme Court rules against this provision?
The Republicans have tried more times than I care to count to dismantle the ACA, but the fact is they have nothing to offer to replace it so what happens to the millions in this country that need some sort of help paying for medical coverage? Perhaps you are one of the lucky members of our society who are in good health and fortunate not to need to seek medical treatment, so you’re not aware of the astronomical costs involved.
Unfortunately, there are all too many others in this county that do require health care and would not be able to obtain it without the assistance of the tax-credit subsidies, provided by the federal government, in those instances where individual states refused to open an Exchange.
If you would like a lesson in health care costs, take a look at the number of individuals in the United States that have been forced to file bankruptcy strictly due to medical expenses incurred.

How Did Your Member Vote?
Opinion: Patricia L Johnson
Following is a listing of the 60 U.S. House members (55 REPUBLICANS and 5 Democrats) that voted “NO” at approximately 10:00 p.m. last night (02-27-2015) on extending funding for the Department of Homeland Security for a period of one-week. The Department of Homeland Security was scheduled to be shut-down at midnight last night unless funding was extended. The following 60 members of the U.S. House of Representatives, by voting “NO” were basically saying “hey – go ahead and shut it down”.
If you are a constituent of any of these members you might want to send them a note telling them EXACTLY how you feel about their vote.
When you’re writing, please remember we probably have sleeper cells residing in this country from the Atlantic to the Pacific and everything in between, and thousands of Islamic State members just waiting for the opportunity to get even. If there is anytime in the history of this country that we need to have the Department of Homeland Security up and running at full strength, it is now!
Department of Homeland Security employees cannot provide their undivided attention to the task at hand if they have to worry about where their next paycheck is coming from.

QUESTION: On Motion to Suspend the Rules and Concur in the Senate Amendment
BILL TITLE: Protecting Volunteer Firefighters and Emergency Responders Act
For Real?
Opinion: Patricia L Johnson
Are these people truly for real?
Funding for the Department of Homeland Security extended until March 6? A full week? What kind of way is that to run a government?
What happens when the week is up, do we then start funding by the day? Or maybe by the hour? Or perhaps these clowns will simply fund major departments by the minute?
In case they have forgotten the reason they were elected to office is to represent “we the people”. If they don’t want to represent “we the people” they should all consider resigning because they’re not doing the rest of us any favors.
I, for one, do not want the Department of Homeland Security funded for a week. I want it funded through the balance of the fiscal year, as is customary and I’m sure there are millions of other voters in this country that would appreciate it very much if members of the U.S. House would finally do something other than make complete fools of themselves.

It’s all in the way it’s presented, or the Games Gallup Plays!
“Slightly More Americans Say U.S. Is No. 1 Military Power”
You have to love Gallup’s use of the word ‘slightly’. What does the word slightly mean to you? To me it basically means the difference is relatively small, which simply isn’t the case with the results of the Gallup Poll.
The question that was asked of American’s in Gallup’s annual World Affairs poll conducted February 8-11, 2015 was:
“Do you think the United States is No. 1 in the world militarily, or that is is only one of several leading military powers?”
59% of those polled indicated they thought the U.S. is No. 1, while only 38% of those polled indicated the U.S. as one of several leading military powers.
Maybe I’m off base here, but when I went to school 59 percent was considered a majority so perhaps their headline should read:
“Majority of Americans Say U.S. is No. 1 Military Power”, which would appear to be a more accurate reflection of their poll.
Alas, I forgot – unfortunately most of our media no longer reports the news, they simply report their ‘version’ of the news!

The Budget and Economic Outlook: 2015 to 2025 | Congressional Budget Office.
Note from P.L. Johnson
The budget deficit for FY 2015 is estimated to come in at $468 billion, which is calculated at 2.6% of GDP and will be the lowest budget deficit since President Obama took office, as well as being lower than the 2.7% average for the past fifty years.
CBO and JCT also project the Affordable Care Act costs to the federal government to be a full 20 percent less than originally forecast for the five year period ending in 2019.

Estate Tax and Its Impact on You
By Patricia L Johnson
How would you feel about not having to pay taxes on the first $5 million in income you receive in any given calendar year?
Each year the majority of us file an income tax return with the IRS indicating our income for the previous calendar year, less allowable deductions. In the event too much was paid in taxes a refund is issued, or in instances where taxes are still owed, a payment is made to the IRS.
Our tax money finds its way into the coffers of the U.S. Department of the Treasury and that money, along with other U.S. income, is then used to finance all operations of the United States.
When the country has more than sufficient funds to cover expenditures during a given year, we incur a budget surplus (as we did for several years under President Clinton), which in turn reduces the deficit. If the country spends more than it has coming in it increases the deficit.
Prior to President G.W. Bush taking office the country was operating under a budget surplus for three years running and it was decided to give some money back to the taxpayers in the form of numerous tax cuts.
The first cut that was put in place was EGTRRA, PL 107-16, Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001. This one bill made sweeping changes to our tax system, including estate taxes. Prior to passing EGTRRA, the estate tax exclusion was $675,000, with a tax rate of 55%.
What does that mean? Let’s say your grandfather passed away in 2000 and left you an estate valued at $5,000,000. The first $675,000 was not taxable, which means you are only paying taxes on $4,325,000.00 at a maximum tax rate of 55%, less deductions (funeral expenses, specific debts, spousal transfers, charitable contributions, administrative costs, etc.). The lifetime unified credit also comes into play in reducing the taxable amount due, but for the sake of simplification we’ll ignore that factor for now.
Let’s be generous and say our deductions total $1,000,000, which brings our taxable estate down to $3,325,000. Taxes at 55% would be $1,496,250.00 and the balance to you would be $1,828,750.00. The final split on this estate would be as follows:
$1,000,000.00 – (estate expenses)
$1,496,250.00 – Internal Revenue Service [$3,325,000.00 x 55%]
$2,503,750.00 – To the beneficiary [$1,828,750.00 + $675,000.00]
$5,000,000.00
So, in calendar year 2000 the United States (you the taxpayer) would receive almost $1.5 million dollars in taxes from this one estate.
Let’s jump forward to 2008, the last year President Bush was in office. EGTRRA was made retroactive to June of 2001, and contained a provision that increased the amount that was not taxable on estates for the next decade, while also decreasing the tax rate. By the end of 2008 the first $2,000,000.00 of an estate was not taxable and the maximum tax rate had been reduced to 45%.
When EGTRRA was passed it was known that there might be a change in administrations after the 2008 election and it was also known that these changes would drastically reduce IRS payments; therefore major waivers were not scheduled to go into effect until years following 2008. Increasing the estate tax under any administration is far easier than reducing it; therefore in 2009 (under EGTRRA) the first $3.5 million was exempt while the maximum rate remained at 45%.
For calendar year 2010, EGTRRA completely eliminated any estate tax so our country went from being able to collect almost $1.5 million in estate taxes on a single estate to a total of .00 in taxes, on this same estate, ten years later. How much income have “we the people” lost over the past 10 years on this one tax cut alone?
It’s difficult to determine what isn’t, especially when estate and gift taxes do not go through detailed analysis each and every year. What we do know is in calendar year 2011 there were 9,447,000 tax returns that had estates valued at over $5 million dollars and the total gross amount of these estates was valued at $139,075,503,000.00 [one hundred thirty-nine billion seventy-five million, five
hundred three thousand dollars].
The IRS indicates the gross amount of decedent estates in 2010 at over one hundred thirty billion dollars, so we are talking about an incredible amount of money. Let’s say for the sake of discussion that only 10% of the $130 billion was taxable. At that miniscule rate, the U.S. Treasury would have received an additional $13 billion in taxes, but instead “we the people” received zero dollars.
The majority of us have a problem wrapping ourselves around a number as large as $13 billion because we just don’t come in contact with numbers that huge on a regular basis so I’m going to try to compare it to something we can all understand. An additional $13 billion in revenues would pay all expenses for the legislative branch of our government for a full three years.
What does that mean? It means it would pay for all costs associated with the funding of the U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, Capitol Police, Office of Compliance, Congressional Budget Office (CBO), Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Library of Congress (LOC), including Congressional Research Service (CRS), Government Printing Office, Government Accountability Office (GAO), and Open World Leadership Center.
Remember we’re only talking about what we lost in revenues for one year, now multiply by that by the number of years these people haven’t paid their fair share in taxes and we’re talking about a sum of money that would cover the costs of major programs in this country.
The words ‘redistribution of wealth’ were tossed around by Republicans after the President Obama’s State of the Union address on the evening of January 20, 2015. The President’s plan isn’t intended to ‘redistribute’ the wealth, but rather to give back to ‘we the people’ what was taken from us during the prior administration’s tax cuts.
Please keep in mind a couple things – the $13 billion is at a 10% rate, what if the rate was 20% or 30% or 55% as it was in the past before being reduced by EGTRRA? EGTRRA alone contained nine sections and ninety-two subsections so there is plenty of wealth to go around, when it’s taxed appropriately.

TIDBITS – January 15, 2015, NOAA GLOBAL ANALYSIS FOR DECEMBER 2014
By Patricia L Johnson
Perhaps you have been brainwashed by the naysayers into believing there is no such animal as global warming, or perhaps you are one of the few people in this country that use their head for something other than a hat rack.
In either case, the facts are in and the average combined global land and ocean surface temperature for calendar year 2014 was the highest on record of all readings taken during the past 135 years.
Following are the Global Highlights from the National Climatic Data Center, Global Analysis for December 2014. The full report may be read by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page.
- The December 2014 average combined global land and ocean surface temperature was record high in the 135-year period of record, at 0.77°C (1.39°F) above the 20th century average of 12.2°C (54.0°F).
- The December 2014 globally-averaged land surface temperature was the third highest on record, at 1.36°C (2.45°F) above average. The globally-averaged ocean surface temperature was also third highest for December on record, at 0.55°C (0.99°F) above average.
- The average combined global land and ocean surface temperature for January–December 2014 was the highest on record among all years in the 135-year period of record, at 0.69°C (1.24°F) above the 20th century average.
