Opinion: Patricia L Johnson
Following is a listing of the 60 U.S. House members (55 REPUBLICANS and 5 Democrats) that voted “NO” at approximately 10:00 p.m. last night (02-27-2015) on extending funding for the Department of Homeland Security for a period of one-week. The Department of Homeland Security was scheduled to be shut-down at midnight last night unless funding was extended. The following 60 members of the U.S. House of Representatives, by voting “NO” were basically saying “hey – go ahead and shut it down”.
If you are a constituent of any of these members you might want to send them a note telling them EXACTLY how you feel about their vote.
When you’re writing, please remember we probably have sleeper cells residing in this country from the Atlantic to the Pacific and everything in between, and thousands of Islamic State members just waiting for the opportunity to get even. If there is anytime in the history of this country that we need to have the Department of Homeland Security up and running at full strength, it is now!
Department of Homeland Security employees cannot provide their undivided attention to the task at hand if they have to worry about where their next paycheck is coming from.
