There aren’t too many things happen in this country that shock me, but the treatment of former IMF head, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, by NY officials is definitely at the top of the list.
No matter what alleged crime has been committed you are supposed to be considered ‘innocent’ in this country until proven guilty, but just the opposite occurs. The man is yanked off a plane, thrown in a jail cell and basically held hostage by our country, all on the say-so of a chambermaid.
How many alleged rapists are there in this country that are only able to get out of jail after posting bail of one million dollars and a five million dollar insurance bond, wear an electronic anklet, and pay an estimated $200,000/per month of their own money for armed guards and 24 hours electronic surveillance?
Dominique Strauss-Kahn was the front runner for next year’s Presidential race in France and now the man isn’t even able to find housing in this country due to the media attention this case has received.
There are women raped every hour of every day in this country and, all too often, the charges aren’t taken seriously by LEO’s, so what makes this case different?
What happens if he’s found innocent of all charges? Is there any way at all this country could ever make up for the harm it’s caused this man?
Is there anyone in this country oblivious enough to believe this man would rape a hotel employee in his own hotel room and later telephone the hotel to tell them he left his cell phone in this same room? That doesn’t make sense and as Judge Judy would say “if something doesn’t make sense, it’s usually not true”.
