I have read this same re-hash from time to time, over and over again. It misses the point every time. If the growing interest on the National Debt is no problem, why not start providing health insurance to the 46-million people who don’t have it? That would cost far less than the interest on the National Debt now. Likewise, if the rich were sure that national health care did not mean that everyone — including the rich — got the same care, there might be a chance to pass national health care.
Just think about it. If you spent all your life grasping for money and accumulating piles of it, would you want every Tom, Dick and Harry to have as good health care as you? What’s money for if it’s not to get what other people can’t afford? Something basic like office visits to the doctor, drug prescriptions, and stuff like that would be a good start. Those high-priced operations cost too much for the poor to have them.
